Say Yes Summer Festival in Thornden Park to showcase student achievement

Approximately 1,800 Syracuse City School District children, ages 7-10, who attended one of 12 Say Yes to Education summer camps, will gather in Thornden Park on Wednesday, July 28 for the Say Yes to Education Summer Festival. Students will showcase their work and demonstrate the new skills and talents that they have developed throughout their summer camp experience. The students, their families and community members will be greeted by Syracuse Mayor Stephanie Miner, who is scheduled to address the festival goers at approximately 9 a.m.
Since early July, the students have engaged in hands-on activities, creative thinking and embarked on exciting adventures. They have spent their mornings engaged in challenging academic programs and their afternoons in outdoor activities including sports, music, photography, dance, theatre, nature, science and field trips. Approximately 230 college students were hired and trained as counselors to work with the students this summer.
The Say Yes Summer Festival is free of charge and open to the public. Festival hours are 9 a.m. - 2 p.m.
