Summer Sessions
Summer study provides opportunities to boost your GPA and stay on track for graduation or prepare to enjoy a semester abroad. Shorter sessions allow you to earn credits before your summer job even starts.
If you're a transfer students or attend other colleges during the regular semesters, you're welcome to attend Syracuse Summer Sessions. Academic options for visiting students include on-campus and online courses as well as study abroad programs. Be sure to check with your home college to be sure your transfer credits will be accepted.
Courses
Current students can register via MySlice. Students who attend other colleges should follow the College of Professional Studies' instructions to search and register.
Dates and Deadlines
Whether you want to squeeze in a few credits before heading off to your summer internship or spend three months soaking up the sun in Syracuse, you're sure to find a summer session that will fit your schedule. We offer courses as short as two weeks and as long as 12.

Add/Drop Deadlines
It is your responsibility to know the financial implications associated with dropping a class. The deadlines related to a particular class are available in several locations on MySlice, including class search, your class schedule and financial deadlines.
Financial Aid
Summer is a separate term from the academic year, and completion of a separate aid application is required if you plan to attend classes in the summer term.
- Full-Time Undergraduate: Aid intended for fall and spring semesters cannot be used to pay for summer tuition charges. Learn more about summer aid opportunities.
- Graduate: Aid intended for fall and spring semesters cannot be used to pay for summer tuition charges. Learn more about summer aid opportunities.
- Part-Time: Complete and submit the Summer UC Financial Aid Application, and this year’s FAFSA.

SummerStart
SummerStart is an exclusive opportunity for incoming first-year students to get ahead prior to starting their fall semester at Syracuse University. Easing the transition to college life, students will get ahead by earning credits toward their degree, making friends, experiencing all that campus life has to offer, and connecting with faculty and staff — all before the fall semester has started!
Summer College for High School Students
For more than 60 years, we have provided exceptional and transformative pre-college experiences to high school students from around the world. As a Summer College student, you'll have the unique opportunity to explore potential college majors and pursue academic interests in a variety of credit and noncredit courses. You'll participate in high-level instruction, have access to campus offerings and resources, and are welcomed into an engaging and supportive community.

Students choose to study abroad during the summer for many reasons. Maybe you can’t commit to an entire semester away from your home college campus, or you need to catch up on credits, or the class you want to take is only offered in a faraway venue. English Language Institute
The English Language Institute (ELI) at Syracuse University provides the opportunity for non-native English speakers to improve their academic English skills. The ELI offers exceptional instruction in several areas of English language development such as reading and writing, speaking and listening, and grammar skills. During the summer months, we offer several programs, including our core Academic English program and specialized programs such as English for Lawyers and English for Architecture. Whether you are conditionally admitted to Syracuse University or just want to heighten your English skills, the ELI is a great place to pursue your goals of English language learning!
