About this Program

  • Our Marriage and Family Therapy (MFT) Master of Arts (M.A.) degree prepares you to meet the growing need for trained professionals to provide life-changing mental health services.
  • Your study of LGBTQ concerns, trauma issues, childhood and parenting challenges, marital and couple difficulties, family violence concerns, and relationship and communication struggles will provide specialized skills that will set you apart in the job search process.
  • Within a social justice framework, we prepare students to engage in cultural humility, awareness of self in relation to others, and an understanding of psychosocial and cultural contexts of issues presented in clinical practice and research.
  • We believe that valuing each other’s similarities and differences helps deepen our understanding of relationships in systems.
  • In existence for more than 50 years, the Department of Marriage and Family Therapy is the longest-standing department of its kind in the U.S. and accredited by the Commission on Accreditation for Marriage and Family Therapy Education (COAMFTE).
